Physical Education

The Windham Physical Education staff (teaching grades T- 8)
believes in a building-block approach to education children in the
area of movement, games, lifetime fitness activities, sportsmanship,
and fun. The students develop socialization skills while learning how
their bodies move and play. Students are encouraged to use a variety
of thinking skills, learning styles, and experimental ways to learn
about exercise and games. The goal is to have students leave the
District completely physically educated, by definition, as stated by
the National Association for Sport and Physical Education
(NASPE):
"A physically educated person has learned skills necessary to
perform a variety of physical activities, participates regularly in physical activity, is physically fit, knows the implications of and the benefits from involvement in physical activity, and values physical activity and its contributions to a healthful lifestyle."
