Our first grade REGISTRATION for this
September’s entering class will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2008
from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, and 12:45 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Golden Brook
School (DOORS CLOSE PROMPTLY AT 2:30 P.M.).It is not necessary for your child to
attend the registration.Due to the
anticipated numbers, we will try to speed up the process by having only the
parent/guardian attend.People whose
last names start with A to J may register during the morning, and the K to Z
group may register in the afternoon. This helps to balance the number of people and reduce waiting time.If you have a problem or conflict, please
call the school at 898-9586.It is
important that we know of all the children entering school so the proper number
of teachers and classrooms will be ready. To be eligible for school, a child must be six years of age by September
30, 2008.
***IMPORTANT:Please bring your child's original birth
certificate with the raised seal, an immunization record, and two (2) proofs of
residency to registration (New Hampshire license with current address as one
proof of residency).***
New Hampshire State Law requires all children who will
enter first grade to have a physical exam and verification of all immunizations
by the start of school in September. Enclosed, you will find a form for your
child's physical examination.Please
remember to call your physician early to set up an appointment, as there will
be no exceptions to entering on the first day of school without a
completed physical examination form. Please return your child's physical form by August 1st.All physicals must be dated no earlier than
September 1, 2007.
We will have an ORIENTATION PROGRAM FOR PARENTS
of entering first graders on Thursday evening, May 8th at
7:00 p.m.The staff will outline testing
procedures, placement of students, and the differences between the first
grades, (regular first and transitional first). We will also answer any
questions that you might have.We hope
you will attend this important meeting. It will help you to understand our first grade program and share questions
that parents of entering first graders have about school. The meeting will be held in the Golden Brook
School gymnasium.
A PARENT VISITATION DAY will be held Wednesday,
May21st at GoldenBrook.Parents of entering first
grade students are invited to visit the school and observe our first grade
classes.Please report to the gym
at9:30 a.m. for a brief
overview.From 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.,
you will have an opportunity to visit all first grade and transition classrooms. At 10:45, please return to the gym for a
question, answer and discussion period. This visit is not for children — Parents

Again this year our STUDENT ORIENTATION PROGRAM
for entering first grade students will be a two-day program. Students entering
grade 1 this September will come to Golden Brook on Thursday and Friday, May 29th and 30thfrom 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.Parents should make the necessary arrangements to drop students off and
pick them up at the above times.A light
snack will be provided. Children will eat lunch after returning home. The students who are in our present first and
transitional first grade classes will remain at home for the two days. This will afford us a better opportunity to
observe your child and help in determining their placement. Both nationally standardized evaluations and
other assessments will be administered.It
will also help your child become better oriented to Golden Brook
School.
Entering first grade students and their parents may visit
their assigned classroom and teacher the day before the first day of
school. This will be an opportunity to
meet your child's teacher, visit the classroom, and help him/her become more
relaxed about the first day of school.
Please call Golden Brook at 898-9586 if your child will
not be attending Golden Brook in September.
Please complete the enclosed registration form and return
to Golden Brook no later than March 21st.This will help to expedite the registration
process when you come in on April 22nd.
