STUDENT PROJECTS

December 2011 - Student Sample Work video - created for Christa McAuliffe Technology Conference to showcase the opportunities students have to create a wide variety of assessment projects. A short clip of several videos is displayed and then the last project is shown in its entirety. Here's a description of the content included:

1. Wellness:  Anti-smoking by Layla
   

Project Definition: The assignment was to create a smoking awareness video using 20 facts and one of the choices for presentation was to create a video. The project was to make the students aware of the damage they are doing to their body if smoking.

2. Humanities:  Greek God – Apollo’s Fight with the Monstrous Python, by Zach, Randi and Cassandra

Project Definition: You have been assigned a Greek God or Goddess and are to research a myth about him or her and present this myth through a short (no more than 3 minutes in length) movie.

 

3. Biology:  Mitochondria Facebook pages by Jessica

Project Definition: We are currently studying all of the organelles that make up Eukaryotic cells. In keeping with the 21st century, your job is to create Facebook pages for a group of organelles. The purpose of this activity is to assist you and your classmates in learning the names, locations, and functions of all of the organelles in a Eukaryotic cell.

Project Definition: Your mission is to create a project, which illustrates your understanding of the Eukaryotic Cell.  You must demonstrate your knowledge of its basic structure, including its organelles, the functions of these organelles, and how they are interconnected.

 

6. Biology:  Why Should You Care About Cancer? by Jeffrey, Justin, Andrew, Dan

Project Definition: Your assignment is to create a 3-minute video that answers the question:  Why should you care?  In order to do this, you need to identify your audience.  Who do you want to care and then answer the question why is it important that they care about the topic you have researched?  Your goal is to have your target audience more aware and caring at the end of your video.
