WHS 2009- A Progress Report
Construction Update
The steel beams for the high school have been delivered to the construction site and are being "staged" in the area that will eventually become student parking. The process of erecting these beams has begun and will continue throughout the fall and most of the winter.
The School Board and Building Committee have recently reviewed and awarded bids to masonry, plumbing/HVAC, electrical, dry wall, fire protection and elevator subcontractors. The value of these contracts is right on track with projected estimates from Harvey Construction.
Integration Committee
An ad hoc committee, consisting of Dr. Bass, members of the athletic and integration committees, parents and students, has been put together to further study school colors for the high school. The ad hoc committee is working with a uniform supply company to determine color combinations and associated costs to present to the Integration Committee. The Integration Committee will review the information and make a recommendation to the School Board.
Communications
A student forum has been scheduled for all 9th and 10th grade Windham students at Salem High for Thursday, November 15 during first block. Dr. Bass and Amanda Lecaroz will present information to the students about the curriculum as well as be available to take questions. Parents can expect to receive a letter from the SAU outlining the content of the forum.
The preceeding has been an informational report from the School Board’s High School Communication Committee keeping residents informed on the status of the Windham High School project.
