About Camp Bournedale

Mission Statement

  The Windham Middle School Sixth Grade has been attending Camp Bournedale for 20 years. Camp Bournedale is located in the Cedarville section of historic Plymouth, MA, and is situated on beautiful Great Herring Pond. Programming is tailored to the needs and requests of the schools. Three well-balanced family style meals and an evening snack provide your children with the energy needed to get through a busy five-day week at camp.

  Camp Bournedale has been committed to providing schools with exciting, enriching and rewarding educational and social experiences since 1977. Their unique combination of professional teaching staff and incredible facilities make Camp Bournedale the ultimate destination for schools seeking and unforgettable learning experience. The Sixth Grade 2008 Camp Bournedale trip is scheduled for October 27th - October 31st, 2008.

  Things To Pack:

Sleeping Bag/Bed Roll, Sheet & Extra Blanket, Pillow

2-3 Bath Towels/1Washcloth

Pajamas or Sweat suit for sleeping

Underwear (6)

Socks (8 pairs)

Shorts (2)

Pants/Jeans (3)

Long Sleeve shirts and Sweatshirts (3)

Short Sleeve shirts (2)

2 pair sneakers/1 pair of wading or water proof boots

1-2 sweaters/sweatshirts (hooded is helpful)

1 winter jacket

1 rain suit/raincoat/poncho (a necessity as we got out in the rain)

Laundry bag (plastic grocery/trash bags work well

Toiletries: soap (in soap dish), toothbrush, toothpaste, comb/brush, shampoo, shower sandals, etc.

Erasable Pens/pencils and stamped/addressed postcards or stationary

Optional:  Camera/film (disposable cameras work very well - please label with student's name) tennis racquet/balls, fishing rod, softball/baseball glove

 **PLEASE do not bring: money, food, candy/gum, electronic games, cell phones,  etc.

Info About Camp Bournedale

Camp Bournedale is at the gateway to Cape Cod on beautiful Great Herring Pond in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Started by Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Gerson, it is now owned and operated by Arnie Gerson who carries on the strong tradition of Bournedale now sixty-two years in business! Not only is he a second generation owner, Arnie himself is also a product of Camp Bournedale. A guidance counselor for 17 years and former athlete in high school and at Tufts College, Arnie retains his love for sports while introducing the "kids" to whatever is relevant in today's world. Mr. Gerson received his Masters in Guidance from Harvard University in the MED program and has had long experience working with youngsters.

All cabins, beautifully finished, are heated and have all facilities, including showers. In addition to Bournedale's superb facilities, each class has instructors under the guidance of Camp Director Joel Rodman who specialize and demonstrate their knowledge and expertise in an outdoor classroom setting.

Camp Bournedale is proud of its superb athletic facilities and instruction in a wide variety of areas. It boasts seven tennis courts, two ball fields, and four outdoor basketball courts, all lighted for night play.

We also offer two volleyball courts, two indoor gymnasiums, and a roller blade rink. An arts and crafts room with a ceramics center, and a model rocketry building room, round out the facilities.

Food serving is done family-style with students eating as a group with their teachers and chaperones.

All these factors mentioned combine to provide a great camping experience for each participant. Bournedale's excellent and caring reputation is reinforced with the passing of each and every wonderful season!
