Welcome to the WMS Nurse Web Page!WMSSchool Nurse: Kathy Rawley RN, BSN
Health Room Hours: 7:15am – 2:30pm
Mission Statement
The School Nurse serves to provide school nursing interventions that improve student health and positively impact their achievement and success in school, by performing assessment and evaluation of student health concerns and determining appropriate interventions.
WMS Health Room Policies and Procedures.
The Health Room is staffed full time during school hours to assist students with medications, treat injuries, evaluate student illness, and provide screenings of height, weight, vision, hearing, and scoliosis.
Medications.
Students requiring any medication during the school day are required to have a medication permission form filed with the school nurse. A physician signature is required for all prescription medications. A parent signature will suffice for OTC medications. Medications are to be dispensed by the school nurse. Forms may be picked up in the main office or downloaded from this site (coming soon). Medications must be brought to the school by the parent. Students should not bring them on the bus.
Tylenol or Ibuprofen.
Parents can give permission for their child to receive these medications by signing off on the emergency form sent home the first day of school.
Immunizations
NH Law requires that all students be properly immunized. The school nurse updates immunizations in the student health record yearly. See the link below for NH Immunization Requirements.
Orthopedic Injuries
Please report all injuries occurring outside of school to the school nurse. The school nurse will assist with accommodations to enable the student to return to school safely. Students will not be excused from physical education class without a note from their physician. Students returning to PE after an injury will also need physician permission.
