Midsummer District Update

Midsummer District Update

Good Afternoon,

We hope you are all safe and enjoying your summer break! We wanted to provide you with a midsummer update on a few items that we have been working on.

  • Fall Reopening Plan:  At the end of this school-year, our district implemented multiple task forces to review and prepare for several scenarios of reopening in the fall.  These committees are made up of district and school-level administration, teachers, parents, medical staff, support staff, and union leadership. The committees are examining all of the obstacles and barriers we may face during our transition in the fall. The committees are developing plans for different scenarios including a full reopening, a blended learning model which includes a combination of in-school and remote learning, or reverting back to remote learning. The working plans are being developed with the health and educational needs of our students and staff being our guiding principles. Detailed guidelines, requirements, FAQs, and plans will be provided to our families and staff by the beginning of August.
  • Use of Indoor Facilities: Indoor space rentals (i.e. gymnasium, auditorium, etc.) during the summer months will be limited due to ongoing summer construction projects.  If you are interested in reserving a space, please contact bgolden@windhamsd.org for additional details.
  • Postponed Camp Cody Field Trip (previously Nature’s Classroom): The Camp Cody field trip that is currently scheduled for Oct. 7th-9th for the seventh grade middle schoolers will be postponed due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 situation.  The field trip will be rescheduled to March 31-April 1.
  • New Administrative Staff: The Windham School District has hired some exceptional new leaders to our district for the 2020-21 school-year.  Meet and learn a little more about these employees!
